FINISHED: Performance Audit and Policy Evaluation: On the Same or Parallel Tracks?
In the framework of Regional Research Promotion Programme in the Western Balkans (RRPP), TEN Members had an opportunity to conduct a research on policy evaluation and performance audit, which lasted 12 months.
The research project with the title “Performance Audit and Policy Evaluation: On the Same or Parallel Tracks?” was financially supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The Project aimed to analyse the relationship between performance audit and policy evaluation and to define conclusions based on comparative practices. In order to do so, the performance audit and policy evaluation was examined in Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia, together with comparative practices from six EU Member States. The final product of the research was a study containing conclusions and recommendations that aim to promote good governance principles and contribute to the introduction of improved policy evaluation system in public administration. These are also the issues identified as priority areas in the RRPP 2013 Call for Proposals.
The research results were presented at the regional conference in Belgrade, 09-10 September 2015.
The RRPP is aimed at fostering and promoting social science research in the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia). Social science research aids in the understanding of the specific needs for reform and in identifying the long-term implications of potential policy choices. Researchers receive support through research grants, methodological and thematic training, as well as opportunities for regional and international exchange and networking. The RRPP is coordinated and operated by the Interfaculty Institute for Central and Eastern Europe (IICEE) at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). The programme is fully funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
